There are several ways to begin your career in EMS. Many people entering this field begin as a member of a volunteer fire department. Others begin by taking an Emergency Medical Technician Course. Courses are taught at different locations throughout Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties.

Determine which fire department’s jurisdiction you reside in and contact them directly. Oftentimes firefighters can be found at their stations Sunday mornings or Tuesday evenings around 7pm. More information on joining can be found on these websites.
